Regional winner will fly to Barcelona for Grand Final
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 15 February 2009: Regional finalists of the FIFA Interactive World Cup 2009 (FIWC09) flew into Dubai to battle it out in the Middle East Live Qualifier event at the Virgin Megastore, Mall of the Emirates. Mohammed Nasser Al Khathlan of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia was crowned the winner of the Middle East Live Qualifier of the FIWC09. The 21 year old student won against a fellow Saudi participant from Jeddah in the final with a 5-1 victory.
The FIWC09 Middle East Final, which took place on February 13th, comes after seven qualifying tournaments were held across the region early this year. It has achieved remarkable response from the public, being the first tournament of its kind held in the Middle East.
The best virtual players competed head-to-head in order to qualify for the Regional Final. By winning the Middle East Live Qualifier, Mohammed secured one of the 32 prestigious slots at the FIWC09 Grand Final in Barcelona this May.
"Playing at the Middle East Live Qualifier was a great opportunity for me to represent my country Saudi Arabia for the first time in the Middle East. This is a dream come true! I now look forward to travel to Barcelona and compete with the best virtual players globally!" commented Mohammed on his victory.

In addition, the champion and a companion will be invited to attend the FIFA World Player Gala and receive their award alongside the world's top male and female footballers.
