Power up your PlayStation 3 and prepare to bid farewell to Ezio Auditore da Firenze in Assassin's Creed Revelations, the final chapter of the deadly killer's story that began in Assassin's Creed II in 2009.
Slipping on Ezio's robes and tooling up with an arsenal of blades, bombs and pistols, you're thrust into the action right where Assassin's Creed Brotherhood left off, with Desmond - the game's present-day protagonist - trapped inside the mysterious device called the Animus.
Inside the Animus, Desmond meets Subject 16, a man who spent time within the machine before him, but died in the process and discovers that Desmond's mind has now completely fragmented from overexposure to the machine. Now, Desmond must continue to play out the stories of his ancestors until there is nothing left for them to show him.
If Desmond can make it that far without his mind splintering any further, the Animus will separate his memories from those of his ancestors and free him from its grasp. It's up to you to guide him, so hold on tight to your wireless controller and prepare for the most thrilling Assassin's Creed adventure through time yet.
Alongside your copy of Assassin's Creed Revelations on PlayStation 3, you'll find a very special bonus on the same Blu-ray Disc – the original Assassin's Creed. Taking place in the year 1191 AD during the events of the Third Crusade, the game charts the actions of Altair, a member of the Assassins and original star of the worldwide smash-hit series.
If you have yet to experience the brilliance of Assassin's Creed on PlayStation 3 this is the perfect way to travel back in time with the cunning assassin, before heading to your nearest store to pick up both Assassin's Creed II and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood on Blu-ray Disc to complete your collection.
Assassin's Creed Revelations follows the series' open world formula that developer Ubisoft Montreal originally created in 2007 on PlayStation 3. Unfurling over a number of districts in Constantinople during 1511 AD, the sequel features a series of fresh additions to the blockbuster saga such as the hook blade.
This new weapon and climbing gadget allows Ezio to travel across the city at great speeds using the numerous zip lines you'll find dotted throughout the vast map. It's also perfect for tripping up opponents in battle or pulling down scaffolding if you need to slow down enemies that are hot on your heels.
Alongside the hook blade, Ezio also has explosives to hand. These bombs can be concocted from numerous items you'll find in chests and shops dotted around the game world and can be used to kill, maim or distract enemies. Always take a moment to sift through the pockets of the dead or unconscious because a number of them tend to carry money, weapons and ingredients for crafting bombs that can help you throughout your mission.
An online world of assassins
Assassin's Creed Revelations features a number of gripping multiplayer modes that can be experienced via PlayStation Network including Deathmatch, Manhunt and Artefact Assault. In Deathmatch, each game lasts roughly ten minutes with a simple goal - hunt down and assassinate an allocated target. You'll have to be careful though, because in Deathmatch you are both the target and the pursuer, so make sure you're always on the lookout for rival assassins.
In Manhunt, you and up to three of your friends must hunt down a rival team of four and assassinate them all. At the end of the round, roles are reversed and it's your turn to become the hunted. Artefact Assault is a brand new mode that tasks you and three of your friends to break into your opponent's base, steal an artefact and return it to your own camp.
Assassin's Creed Revelations' multiplayer modes are packed with a huge roster of characters for you to get to grips with including the Renegade, Sentinel and Trickster. Each one has their own unique style of play, so spend a little time trying out each one to find out which character suits you best.
