What It's Like To Play

What if a book could come to life?

Presentation

What if a book could come to life?

Master more than 20 spells and turn your living room into the Restricted Section of the Hogwarts library in Wonderbook: Book of Spells on PlayStation 3. Explore the enchanted Book of Spells which, in the world of Harry Potter, was written over 200 years ago by Miranda Goshawk, to learn all a budding witch or wizard needs to know to cast powerful hexes, charms and spells.

After following the on-screen instructions to set up your Wonderbook peripheral, PlayStation Eye camera and PlayStation Move motion controller, you're ready to enter Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and begin your training.

First things first: choose your wand and the Hogwarts house you wish to join. If you have an account at Pottermore.com – the unique online experience built around the Harry Potter books – this information will be automatically uploaded into your game. Swish your wand around a bit to get used to it, then start exploring the Book of Spells.

Split into five chapters and featuring new, original writing from Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling, Wonderbook: Book of Spells conjures up a world that leaps out at you from its ancient pages. As you're guided through the book, you'll discover the funny stories behind its spells, take cover as mysterious creatures come to life and, most importantly, put the magic you learn into practice.

A magical read

How would you clean up the disgusting mess caused by Bat-Bogey Hex? What can stop the creeping vines of Devil's Snare? And will you solve the puzzles set by a clever Sphinx? You'll reveal the answers to these questions and much more in Wonderbook: Book of Spells on PS3.

Grab your motion controller and open your Wonderbook to begin your training. Each chapter focusses on a number of spells; for each one, you'll uncover background history, learn to say its incantation and practise the gesture with your wand. Finally, you'll use the spell in a special exercise – pass with flying colours to earn house points.

Take the Fire-Making Spell, Incendio. A cautionary tale shows why it's a good idea to watch where you play with fire. Once you've perfected the wand gesture, it's on to a test that has you banishing papery pests with jets of flame. You'll also find that Jarleth Hobart suffered a rather embarrassing fall from grace when he showed off his Levitation Charm, Wingardium Leviosa. And that the Revealing Charm, Aparecium, resulted from Bridget Wenlock letting her suspicious mind get the better of her.

What other secrets will you unearth among this precious book's pages? Look for hidden drawings, mysterious notes and valuable collectibles. Decide which spells will help you pass each chapter's final test. And enjoy new-found power at the flick of your motion controller, which acts as your wand.
