Sackboy vs The Hoard
Uh-oh, the Craftworld universe is in the most awful, terrible peril. Precious Prize Bubbles – the building blocks of imagination – are being snaffled by the villainous Hoard, a band of unwelcome other-worldly meanies. This has put a halt to any kind of level-building and costume-designing the people of Craftworld love so much to do; and now they are very sad.
Sackboy can only watch in horror as the Hoard zip about the place in their super-fast racing karts, tossing the Prize Bubbles into big garages and spreading misery across his homeland. The dreamers who dreamed dreams, the builders that built buildings and the designers that designed anything they could think of are now at a loss. This won't do at all and they now need a new hero – a hero that just loves to go fast.
Revving his kart's engine, with his hands gripping the wheel, Sackboy floors the accelerator in his quest to reach the Prize Bubbles before the Hoard. It seems all is not lost after all.
Race the unexpected
LittleBigPlanet Karting sees Sackboy travel through the Craftworld universe, touching down on each planet to take part in races and battles against the mean and nasty Hoard. Victory is a must, either through expert driving or good use of weapons; and Sackboy must also collect as many Prize Bubbles and goodies as he can.
This vibrant and lively universe, which is full of surprises by the way, has been brought to life by United Front Games – the clever people that gave you the brilliant ModNation Racers franchise. The Canadian development studio worked closely with LittleBigPlanet creators Media Molecule to ensure this title remains faithful to the spirit of LittleBigPlanet.
Not only can you experience 30 racetracks and battle arenas, there are loads of unique and utterly bonkers mini-games on offer too. Add offline and online multiplayer racing to the mix, along with the chance to fully customise racetracks, karts, costumes and weapons, and you'll find a racing game with no finishing line in sight.
Sackboy, start your engine
Packed with frantic karting action, this is Sackboy's fastest LittleBigPlanet adventure yet.
To help you battle the Hoard, Craftworld's finest kart engineers will let you choose your own set of racing controls, and even give you the chance to hit the tracks using the fancy PlayStation Move Racing Wheel.
In the imaginative single player story mode, Sackboy journeys across seven planets, with each hosting a variety of levels. You must outrun the Hoard in the racing levels while also grabbing any goodies and Prize Bubbles – these unlock bonuses and who-knows-what-else for you to play with. Fearsome and hilarious weapons can be collected mid-race and unleashed on your pitiful opponents but beware; they also have you in their sights.
If you're feeling a little bit feisty you can head to the battle arena levels to engage the Hoard in a full-on, full-blooded scrap using any weapons you can find. And there are loads of unique bonus mini-games to be discovered too.
In true LittleBigPlanet style, your Pod is your home. Here you can add your own twist to your LittleBigPlanet Karting experience by customising your Pod, karts and Sackboy's costumes, while also designing your own racetracks and battle arenas.
Once you've sent the horrible Hoard packing with their tails tucked firmly between their legs, it's time to wipe the floor with your friends and foes from across the world. LittleBigPlanet Karting offers unpredictable multiplayer contests for up to eight players via PlayStation Network, and also four players offline in split screen mode.
You can play any of the racetracks and battle arena levels in the multiplayer modes, and make sure you keep a keen eye out for the brilliant bonus mini-games that can be unlocked and played with a pal in versus mode.
