Pack the sun block, FIFA, PlayStation and EA SPORTS have announced that from 7 to 9 June 2011, Los Angeles will host this year's FIFA Interactive World Cup Grand Final. Running alongside E3, one of the world's biggest videogame shows, it promises to be one of the most exciting Grand Finals in the event's seven-year history.
Since December 2010, over 700,000 gamers from all over the world have competed online and at live qualification events worldwide in an effort to be one of the lucky 24 finalists that will ultimately be crowned the new FIFA Interactive World Cup Champion.
If you haven't been able to secure your final spot yet, you can take part now via PlayStation Network in the final online qualification season. Season 6 is open until 25 May 2011 so sign up now in-game via EA SPORTS™ FIFA 11 and show the world your winning moves.
If you make it to the finals, you will be treated to an action-packed LA experience before stepping into action.
"I'm so excited to hear the news that the FIFA Interactive World Cup is coming to the United States," said 2010 FIFA Interactive World Cup Champion Nenad Stojkovic. "It will be a great honour to welcome the challengers to Los Angeles and defend my title on home soil."
The final stages of the tournament will be held at the Mayan Theatre, on 9 June 2011, with a host of professional footballers on hand to cheer the remaining contestants on to a potential 20,000 USD first prize and a once-in-a-lifetime invitation to the FIFA Ballon d'Or 2011.
