Gamers around the globe rush to be part of the handheld revolution.
The world is in play thanks to the successful global launch of PlayStation Vita. The new handheld gaming system is being snapped up by eager gamers following its release in Europe and PAL regions, North and Latin America as well as Singapore on 22 February 2012, continuing the strong momentum generated by its arrival in Japan in late 2011.
More than 1.2 million PS Vita systems have now been sold worldwide, Sony Computer Entertainment can reveal, while software sales have breached the 2 million mark.
"PS Vita was designed to deliver the ultimate portable entertainment experience, and we couldn't be more thrilled with the reaction we're seeing from consumers and the pace at which the system is selling," says Andrew House, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment.
"The market has responded and there is clear demand for a mobile device capable of providing a revolutionary combination of rich gaming and social connectivity within a real world context.
"To sustain momentum, we're working closely with developers and publishers to ensure the best games possible will be available on PS Vita, and our software line-up for the remainder of 2012 will have something for everyone across the globe."
