Why there's never been a better time to be a PlayStation gamer.
PlayStation gamers are the "most passionate in the world" according to Sony Computer Entertainment America president Jack Tretton. As he took the stage at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena to kick off E3 2012, it was easy to see the reasons why fans are so committed to PlayStation. Here, we've rounded up the top seven.
BEYOND: Two Souls

Quantic Dream's David Cage announced that gamers would "fall in love with Ellen Page". The Hollywood actress stars in the latest, stunning project from the team that brought you Heavy Rain, and a demo that was both eerie and explosive caused a sensation in the auditorium. SWAT teams, telekinesis and rage feature prominently in this PlayStation 3 powerhouse.
Who's excited?
@nemof: Seems sony brought out the big guns at the beginning with the remarkable #beyond
Wonderbook: Book of Spells
"Welcome to the re-invention of the storybook," said SCE London Studio's Dave Ranyard as he introduced the first game for the newly announced Wonderbook peripheral. Featuring brand new material from Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling, the crowd were wowed by flying dragons, flames leaping from pages and doorways to new worlds, all powered by augmented reality technology and PlayStation Move.
Who's excited?
@mikekasprzak: I like that #Wonderbook exists. Something I completely did not expect. Bravo Sony
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale

Two names: Nathan Drake and Big Daddy. The Uncharted series hero and the lumbering BioShock guardian will put in guest appearances in the star-studded beat 'em up, joining the likes of Sly Cooper and Kratos in this raucous PS3 – and now PS Vita – brawler and ensuring plenty of punch.
Who's excited?
@daviddoel: Sony starts off their conference with two exclusive and original games. That's how you do it #E3
Assassin's Creed III Liberation

All of the open world choice of the Assassin's Creed series is making its way to PlayStation Vita. What's more, you'll meet the games' first female assassin, while the Cross-Goods feature means you can swap items – such as specially upgraded ammo pouches – between this and the similarly spectacular Assassin's Creed III on PS3.
Who's excited?
@strangepope: Can you take my money now? Both #ACIII and #ACLiberation are looking pretty sweet.
Over 200 downloadable titles in a year

With the likes of Unfinished Swan, Papa & Yo and Dyad continuing the blend of quirkiness, originality and playability that propelled Journey to such success on PS3, the next 12 months are hugely promising for PlayStation Network.
Who's excited?
@jenniekong: Big love to #Journey and #UnfinishedSwan – love PSN's indie games
God of War: Ascension

Already 21 million units strong, the angry juggernaut shows no sign of slowing. God of War: Ascension was shown off with a brutal – and very loud – demo of skills such as using enemy weapons and freezing items in mid-air to use as platforms, and finished with a blistering confrontation with the Kraken.
Who's excited?
@OPM_UK: Great God Of War demo. Uncharted influence to the improved platforming. Combat more fluid. #opme3
The Last of Us

You've seen Ellie and Joel picking their way through a desolate world. At E3 2012, you saw what happened when a lot of unwelcome company showed up. It involved running out of ammo, hiding and using teamwork to blindside a fearsome enemy – and it was utterly thrilling.
Who's excited?
@jamileh: Dear Naughty Dog, my monies; let me give them to you.
SCEI president Andy House summed it up when he said, "PlayStation is always thinking about the future... and we're going to lead that future. I hope you're as excited about it as we are." Keep checking eu.playstation.com/e3 and PlayStation.Blog for more reasons to be excited as they arrive from E3 2012.
