Portable gaming is more advanced than ever with PlayStation Vita – find out why the future is in your hands.
PlayStation Vita is taking portable gaming to incredible new heights with a brilliant variety of titles for the rest of the year and beyond. With over 100 games available or in the works for the impressive system and Remote Play compatibility coming with PlayStation 4 titles, the future is only getting brighter...
For anyone wanting godlike power in the palm of your hands:
Charming, whacky and refreshingly different - Tearaway is something special. The E3 2013 demo was a taste of what to expect in the final game, giving you the chance to jab baddies off the screen by tapping the rear touch pad, creating a crown for a paper squirrel and bouncing iota or atoi up on drum-like platforms. Tearaway's papercraft world is unlike anything you've played before.
For the sci-fi thrill seekers:
Grab your guns and blast your way into a brutal, interstellar war with Killzone Mercenary. This striking shooter blew away show-goers as bullets were traded in awesome firefights. An industrial backdrop was the scene for the E3 demo which had gamers' trigger fingers itching for more.
For little monsters everywhere:
The augmented reality smash hit from PSP has been discovered on PS Vita - Invizimals: The Alliance lets you hunt and capture the mysterious creatures crawling around the Los Angeles Convention Centre. Over 150 classic and new creatures can be found and used in battle, as tables around the PlayStation booth became action-packed arenas for the colourful beasties to clash.
For wannabe festival organisers:
Got an ear to the ground when it comes to spotting bands with the potential to hit the big time? Then BigFest is the game for you. Snap up promising, unsigned acts, put them on stage and grow your dream festival from a few people and a stage to a buzzing music festival the size of several farms. Best of all, it's free to play, so you've nothing to lose even if your taste in music is best heard in an empty field.
For those who like a flight of fantasy:
PlayStation 3 classic Flower has flown over to PS Vita and looks right at home on its high quality touchscreen. Letting you take control of the wind as you float and swoop through beautiful fields full of flora, Flower lets you choose between tilting the PS Vita system for motion based controls or using the touchscreen to guide your colourful petals.
For fans of dragons and destiny:
If you prefer a more traditional fantasy experience, Destiny of Spirits is ready to stack the decks in your favour. This free-to-play trading card game uses the location detecting features of PS Vita to determine which mythological spirits you can track down and collect, before dealing them into exciting battles. Team up with friends to take on bosses and swap rare creatures - and don't forget to keep an eye out for a few familiar faces from other PlayStation titles...
Also on hand with fantasy action is Dragon's Crown, a fighting game which arms you with stunning swords and sorcery. Choose from six playable character classes, such as the Dwarf, Amazon or Elf, and fight your way through a Dungeons & Dragon style beat 'em up setting. Lizard men, gruesome giant spiders and deadly harpies were just a few of the enemies on display at the constantly packed stand at E3, making Dragon's Crown one of the more popular games of the show.
For those drawn to the creepy:
Murasaki Baby is the distinctive, surreal walk on the darker side of children's fantasies. Using the touchscreen, you'll take Baby by the hand and guide her through an eerie world of bizarre colour and shadow, avoiding traps and peculiar pitfalls as you go. Despite the unsettling atmosphere, this promises to be a game of rare charm and has already left a deep impression thanks to a successful showing at gamescom 2013.
For the Dark Knights:
Another hit at E3 was the slick 2D action adventure, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. Developer Armature Studio isn't joking around - this visually fantastic adventure keeps the addictive and deep free flow combat system of Batman: Arkham Asylum, complete with counter-attacks and satisfying takedowns. Detective Mode is activated by pressing the touchscreen, where you can scan anything of interest to gain the upper hand in a quest to discover the true reason behind an uprising at Blackgate prison. The excellent E3 demo packed a punch that's sure to leave fans of the World's Greatest Detective reeling when the game launches in October 2013.
For the fright of your life:
Fans of the popular comic book series will soon be able to take the terror of a zombie apocalypse with them anywhere they want with the PS Vita version of The Walking Dead. With the same well-crafted visuals and intuitive controls as its PS3 big brother, you can expect hard decisions, horrifying characters and a memorable storyline that bends based on your actions. As well as the excellent season one, newly announced add-on story 400 Days will be included in this portable version.
There's even more to come for PlayStation Vita so make sure you don't get left behind in the portable revolution - keep reading eu.playstation.com for all the latest on these games and future titles.
