Naughty Dog's community strategist Eric Monacelli gets in the Easter spirit and tells us about his favourite Easter eggs in games.
Easter isn't just about chocolate eggs and fluffy rabbits; it's also about finding loads of hidden treats and surprises. And, you're in luck - Easter eggs are everywhere in PlayStation games - from the gravestones of Red Dead Redemption with their humorous messages to the two-man disco in a lift in Crysis 2. Let's face it, what's better than watching a tiny party when you're trying to save the world?
Cunning developers have hidden all sorts of secret goodies within their games for you to uncover. So, we decided to get in the Easter mood and talk to Naughty Dog's Eric Monacelli about those sneaky, unexpected treasures in tons of PlayStation games.
What is the best Easter egg you've discovered in a PlayStation game and why?
"This is a tough question to answer. There are so many great ones. All in all the best Easter egg really comes down to your own personal sense of humour or fun. The Grand Theft Auto series is full of amazing Easter eggs to the point where they had to put the "There are no Easter eggs up here. Go away." Easter egg onto the bridge in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. That's a strong testament to how sought out and valued Easter eggs are in that franchise.
"We've been pretty proud of our streak of having the Precursor Orb from the Jak and Daxter series appear in every one of our Uncharted games in some way or another. The Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Easter egg we put into the game involving petting the yak was fun too."

Have you discovered any Easter eggs on PlayStation Vita?
"I'm not sure we can say we discovered it but there's a doozy of an Easter egg in Uncharted: Golden Abyss that involves breaking the fourth wall near the end of the game. You have to play through the game on Crushing to get it to happen and it's no easy feat."

Have you found any Easter eggs that have inspired you to create new ones within your games?
"As is well known now, one of our designers intentionally dropped an Easter egg for The Last of Us in Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception that sparked a lot of buzz prior to the official announcement of The Last of Us. Working with this idea that we always sneak the Jak and Daxter Precursor Orb into the Uncharted series, it just seemed like a good fit to have a reference to The Last of Us in an Uncharted game as well.

"It's also pretty cool that it was discovered and connected back as we had honestly forgotten it was still in the game when it was announced in December 2011. The buzz around the discovery led us to think it might be a good idea to keep the tradition of dropping references to Naughty Dog games within our games... but, then again, maybe not!"
